Braille & Large Print menus

Any documents required for the vision impaired (quotes on request)

Many members of the community have a vision impairment .   The aim of Australia For All   is to have both a Braille and large print menu available in as many clubs and restaurants as possible.  The availability of these menus in an alternative format would ensure that vision impaired guests are able to read the menu independent of the person they are with in the restaurant.   Australia For All Alliance  are also keen to have a large print version of a menu available for guest who are not legally blind, but find it difficult to read the small print that is generally found on menus.

Australia For All Alliance would be happy to supply any restaurant or club with a Braille and large print copy of their menu at a cost of$30.00 for the set.    If it is likely that the prices of the menu will change within six months of receiving the Braille and large print versions, a restaurant owner  might like to consider having these menus produced without the cost of the individual meals shown.  This would avoid having these special menus becoming out of date as soon as the cost of the meals change. The Braille format used is English Unified Braille.

Many restaurants are realising that people with a vision impairment are no longer happy to just sit and have the menu read out to them, they want to read the menu themselves and choose the meal they wish to enjoy.    Having alternative formats available gives them the independence to do so.

Please contact the secretary at australiaforall@bigpond.com if you wish to have a set of Braille and large print menus produced for your restaurant.
